Effective 28 September 2026
LanPlay is a party game platform you play in a browser. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for, no password, and no profile. You can play the whole catalogue without telling us your name, your email address, or anything else about you.
That said, no website is truly invisible, and this policy sets out exactly what does get handled, why, who else sees it, and how long it lasts.
This site and the LanPlay app are operated by Cortian Software SIA, a limited liability company registered in the Latvian Commercial Register under number 40203689062, with its registered address at Aleksandra Čaka iela 58 – 30, Rīga, LV-1011, Latvia.
Cortian Software SIA is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For anything to do with privacy — a question, a request, or a complaint — write to contact@cortian.com.
This policy applies to all three places LanPlay exists:
We want to be unambiguous about this, because it removes most of the usual privacy questions before they come up. LanPlay has no registration, no login, no password and no user profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, payment details or location. We do not have a database of users, because there are no users to put in one.
When you join a room you choose a nickname and enter a room code. Both are held in memory on the play server for as long as the room is open, so that the big screen can show who is playing and route your taps to the right character. Your nickname is visible to everyone else in that room — that is the point of it, so please do not put anything private in it.
When the room closes, this is gone. It is never written to a database and we keep no history of rooms, scores or who played with whom.
The play server keeps a few small values in your browser’s local storage so that playing is less tedious:
These stay on your device. Clearing your browser’s site data — or your app data, in the Android app — deletes them all.
Like effectively every website, our hosting and content delivery provider records standard access logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and when. Under the GDPR an IP address counts as personal data, so we mention it explicitly rather than filing it under “technical”. We use these logs only to keep the service running, diagnose faults and deal with abuse or attacks. We do not use them to build a profile of you, and they are kept only as long as they are useful for those purposes.
We use Google Analytics 4 on both lanplays.com and the play server to understand how many people visit, which games get played and where things break. It tells us things like “forty people opened the games page on a phone yesterday”. It does not tell us who you are.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) containing a randomly generated identifier used to tell one visit from another.
These are switched off until you say yes. We use Google Consent Mode, and analytics storage is set to “denied” by default, so no analytics cookie is written unless you choose Accept on the cookie banner. Choosing Reject is exactly as easy, and it is a real refusal — nothing is stored and nothing is sent.
We remember your answer in a cookie called lanplays_consent, which holds nothing but the word “granted” or “denied” and expires after six months, at which point we ask again. It is set for lanplays.com and its subdomains, so that answering here also counts on the play server and in the Android app — you should only ever be asked once.
This one cookie is set whichever way you answer, including when you refuse. It has to be: it is the only way we can remember that you said no instead of asking you again on every single page. It identifies nothing and no-one, and holds no identifier of any kind.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings button in the bottom-left corner of any page, or by clearing your browser’s site data. We use no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels and no third-party trackers beyond the analytics described here.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. We do not show ads. The only third parties involved are the ones needed to run the service:
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
We are based in Latvia, in the European Union. Google and Amazon Web Services may process some data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, it is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
All traffic to and from lanplays.com, the play server and the Android app is encrypted in transit using HTTPS with modern TLS. Access to our hosting and analytics accounts is restricted to people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. Because we hold no accounts and no database of players, there is very little sitting anywhere to be lost in the first place — which is the strongest protection we can offer.
Requesting deletion. Most of what exists is on your own device and clearing your browser or app data removes it. For anything else, email contact@cortian.com and we will deal with it. Because there are no accounts, we may need you to give us enough detail — such as an approximate time and the network you used — for us to locate anything at all.
LanPlay is intended for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact contact@cortian.com and we will delete it.
Plenty of families do play LanPlay together, and nothing here stops that. The 13+ figure is about who we direct the service at and who accepts this policy, not about who may be in the room.
If you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights over your personal data. Our legal bases for handling it are:
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of them, email contact@cortian.com.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Ours is the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija), dvi.gov.lv. You may also complain to the authority where you live or work.
If you are in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) gives you equivalent rights: to confirm whether we process your data, to access it, to correct it, to anonymise, block or delete data processed unnecessarily, to data portability, to information about who we share it with, and to withdraw consent. Email contact@cortian.com to use any of them, and you may lodge a complaint with the ANPD.
Wherever you are, you are welcome to ask us what we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, or to opt out of analytics — and we will honour it. We apply the standards above to everyone rather than sorting people by jurisdiction. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising to anyone, anywhere.
If we change how LanPlay handles data, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site. This version is effective 28 September 2026.
